Texas prisons no longer serving weekend lunches to cut costs

Some prisons in Texas have stopped serving lunch to inmates in Texas to try to shave off $2.8 million in food expenses. “About 23,000 inmates in 36 prisons are eating two meals a day on Saturdays and Sundays instead of three,” The New York Times reports.
