The past is chockfull of misfits and miscreants whose exploits litter the back alleys of history, never to surface in a high school textbook. From cannibals to pornographers, clueless explorers to oversexed writers, history is ripe with astounding and appalling trivia, catalogued in my latest book, “10 Ways to Recycle a Corpse: And 100 More Dreadfully Distasteful Lists.” The most titillating tales perennially stem from the royal bedchamber, from the exploits of prostitute botherers like King George V to rumors about presumed homosexuals like King Edward II. But of course, the first and most important duty for every prince is to secure the line of succession and populate the royal family with heirs. So while we wait for William and Kate to do their bit, here are some princes who took the job more seriously than most.
