On Tuesday about 80 officers from Strathclyde police, along with a helicopter, 28 vehicles and a dog squad, were sent to the former Hetherington Research Club at the heart of the campus. The building used to be a students’ union but was closed last year due to financial problems and a lack of support from university management – an early victim of the age of austerity in higher education.
